SmartMinds is a tutoring business that offers a wide range of services, including SATs preparation, GCSE tutoring in English, Maths, and Science, general tutoring for KS1, KS2, KS3, and KS4, as well as A Level tutoring in various subjects. Our tutors are experienced and have received training on how to work with children who have SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) . The business was founded with the goal of providing personalized, goal-driven, and communication-focused lessons to support and inspire students. SmartMinds aims to put the child at the heart of every decision and help each student thrive academically and confidently.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

At SmartMinds, we are committed to providing an inclusive learning environment where every student feels supported and valued. All of our staff receive regular training to ensure they can meet the diverse needs of learners with SEND, adapting lessons and approaches to suit individual requirements. We are proud to have a dedicated SENCO, Luca Whitworth, who also serves as our Assistant Director. Luca works closely with students, families, and staff to provide expert guidance and ensure every learner has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.

Subjects and courses we offer at SmartMinds

English Tutoring
We offer support in both English Literature and Language, from KS1 through to A Level. Our tutors follow the national curriculum and exam board specifications to help students build strong reading, writing, and analytical skills, while also developing confidence in expressing themselves effectively.
Maths Tutoring
Covering KS1 right through to A Level and BTEC, our maths tutoring builds firm foundations while developing problem-solving and logical thinking. Lessons are carefully aligned with the national curriculum and exam boards, ensuring students are fully prepared for exams and real-world applications.
Science Tutoring
From KS3 to A Level and BTEC/T Level, we provide specialist tuition in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Applied Sciences. Our science programmes follow national curriculum and exam board guidance, making complex topics clear, practical, and engaging for all learners.
Psychology
We support learners from GCSE through to A Level and BTEC. Our psychology tutoring helps students understand key theories, studies, and applications while staying closely aligned with exam board requirements.
Phonics Support
We provide structured phonics programmes to support younger learners in developing essential reading and spelling skills, ensuring a strong foundation in literacy.
SmartMinds Skills Programme– SmartMinds Edition
Designed for post-16 learners, this unique programme develops essential maths and English skills outside of the standard curriculum. Learners receive a SmartMinds certificate of completion, making it an excellent choice for those looking to strengthen core skills for work, study, or daily life.
Learn to Speak English – SmartMinds Edition
Our tailored English language programme is designed for learners of all levels. Unlike our curriculum-based tutoring, this programme focuses on practical speaking, listening, and communication skills. Each learner progresses at their own pace and receives a SmartMinds certificate of completion at the end of their course.

11+ Exam and SATs

11+ Preparation
Our 11+ tutoring is designed to give students the skills and confidence they need to succeed in their entrance exams. Covering English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning, our lessons follow exam board expectations while helping students develop problem-solving strategies and exam techniques to perform at their best.

SATs Preparation
We provide tailored support for KS1 and KS2 SATs, focusing on Maths, English, and Reading comprehension. Our tutors follow the national curriculum, ensuring children build the core skills required for the exams, while also boosting their confidence and reducing test-day stress.
